Day 3 - the slow run

Day 3 - the slow morning run, 5k keeping it slow around ~ 36 minutes

Wednesday is a day that I run with my dear wife. I love these runs, not because I'm contractually obligated to say this, but because I like being out running with her. We chat, we don't talk, we notice things about our town. Today I show her my river run from last night for the most part. We run chatting, mostly about the events of the week. The temperature is the only thing that interrupts that topic as it's -4C out and we both feel cold.

The run is fairly uneventful other than I know the whole time we're out that she's labouring a bit. We're running at about 7:30 to 7:45/k but she's not run in a couple of days so I get it. My wife is a reluctant runner at the best of times, but I know that if I encourage her rather than berate her I'll get to keep running with her. So much of her struggle is both the body complaining and her own fears of tripping on something. We've both tripped on things recently so there is a history of this.

Bravely she suggests that we run that large hill from yesterday. We climb it with ease and with that we have all of 1.5k left. We decide to run that river run path and admire the trees and the sound of the mighty Sheep River. It's still feeling cold but we push on back on the path towards the house as oatmeal and coffee await. Once we get to the house, a quick stretch and in the house for breakfast.
